I am Jennifer Cooper, an experienced teacher with over thirty years in education, driven by a genuine passion for helping children thrive. From the very beginning of my career, I wanted to make a difference, and over time I have learned that doing this well means really understanding how each child learns best and responding to them as an individual.
I hold a BEd (Hons) degree in Education, with specialisms in ICT and Mathematics. I have worked in Worcestershire for the past twenty-six years across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. Teaching children of different ages has given me a strong understanding of how learning develops over time, as well as how important it is to adapt teaching to meet children where they are.
Much of my career has included time in senior leadership and governance, where I supported colleagues and helped shape positive school environments. However, my greatest enjoyment has always come from working directly with children - particularly those who need a more personalised or flexible approach. I am known for being calm, patient and supportive. I aim to help children build confidence, feel safe to take risks and believe in their own abilities.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and, over the years, have completed training in neurodevelopmental differences (autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, sensory processing difficulties), as well as phonics teaching, multi-sensory mathematics, and developing children's writing. I enjoy keeping up to date with current research and best practice through educational publications, conferences and webinars
Tutoring gives me additional opportunities to focus on my interest in SEN and children with additional needs, through one-to-one and small-group teaching. By building strong relationships and using children’s own interests within lessons, I help them grow in confidence, make progress, and become more independent learners. This is why I became a teacher: to support children and see them succeed.
